Posterous is the new toy that – despite having been about for a while – just seems to have appeared everywhere in the last week, so that makes it the new kid in town.
The quick summary is that it’s a blogging platform you can email to – and you can email anything: audio, video, documents, text and it formats it for you without you doing a thing.
As well as being bloggish, it also struck me as a FriendFeed substitute (confession: I’m on FriendFeed but, like Facebook, it does nothing for me. I can appreciate it, use it and advise others on the pro’s and cons of it, but it’s just not my thing).
I can see some uses for it – it’s more interesting to me than Facebook but there’s a lack of control over how it looks – there’s only one theme for example – but it could be a very good way of getting people interested in blogging and a handy place to put documents or links that interest you. I could see it replacing Delicious for me.
The main man for using at the moment is Steve Rubel, who now uses it as his lifestream. Now I wanted to ask someone who has fairly grounded and realistic views about new technology and the application of such in the PR world . Enter Neville Hobson, one-half of the ridiculously talented For Immediate Release podcasts (which we talk about at the end) who speaks about his experiences and thoughts with it.
Warning up front: the audio is quick and dirty on this. Don’t be expecting a Radio 1 studio, this was done over Skype.

Another post on Posterous, showing how well it works, can be found at Gary Gale’s site.
One thing that does disapoint me is that – apart from whisky already being signed up as a domain – whoever signed up the Pre site (as in pre.posterous) doesn’t seem to have a sense of humour and done anything with it regarding the Pre phone.
