It gives me great delight to be able to announce the speakers for the first of the Scottish Social Media Dinners, taking place at The Chippy Doon The Lane, just off Buchanan Street, Glasgow city centre, on Tuesday, December 8 2009, starting at 5.30pm.

The evening’s format and speakers are as follow*:

5.30-5.45pm: Arrival, complimentary drink courtesy of Revolver PR and introduction chat “Why Santa shouldn’t use social media” by Craig McGill of Contently Managed.

5.45pm: Starter of lentil soup

5.55pm: first topic: SEO and how it can improve your business by Steve Leach, former CEO of Bigmouthmedia, arguably the world’s biggest and best CEO specialists (update: that second CEO was a type but given the crowd Steve mixes with, it seems apt so let’s leave it in).

6.05pm: Main course – haddock and chips with peas and buttered bread

6.25pm: Blogging and online presence by David Petherick, the digital biographer: How it should be done and how you can do it.

6.35pm: Dessert

6.45pm: Podcasting and what consumers want from companies on social media by Eddie Pearson, the producer and presenter of some of Scotland’s most popular independently produced sporting podcasts.

7pm: Questions, event ends

(*All times wildly approx after 5.30pm. No one gets to speak – including questions – for more than 10 mins but the fish does take some time to eat.)

The event is aimed at showing practical and creative uses for social media in bite-sized chunks, while also providing networking, good food and good company. Anyone who wants to discuss specifics for their company or clients is welcome to do so during the dinner (questions are welcome) or afterwards in the drinks venue (TBA).

Tickets for the event are £17.50 and limited to 23 due to considerable early bird demand. If the event is popular, there will be others in the new year with some people – unable to attend this one – lining up to speak.

To buy a ticket, click on the link below and if you have any issues, do not hesitate to get in touch.

UPDATE: The event is sold out, thanks to everyone for their interest. if the feedback from this event is positive then we will certainly be arranging more in the New Year (quite a few potential speakers have already made themselves known).

Now I’m off to catch some fish…
