The latest Quiet News Day podcast is up and snuggled without fanfare or announcement in the first half of it is the first of what – depending on feedback – will hopefully be a weekly slot chatting about the latest news and developments in social and digital media.
There’s a bit of chat on the Amazon PR gaffe where it not only dumped one-sixth of the store but then managed to alienate a large group of writers and their fans, which is as spectacular as own goals get.
There’s also a look at the Pepsi announcement over dumping the Super Bowl for Social Media, which is quite plainly nuts because you should be looking to use social media to work with your other plans: not as a one stop solution. Even Google now takes out newspaper ads and billboards.
And there’s a little mention of the slight snafu by Audi in the choice of the phrase Green Police for their social media campaign. (To be fair to Audi though, the story above shows that they’ve moved on from the initial row and most people are being quite unsensationalistic about it. The point remains though that these things always have to be checked.)
Anyway, enjoy!
