Here, we go again. The first of the Edinburgh Scottish Social Media Dinners. It’s taking place in Moo on Thursday, April 29, starting at 6pm. Speakers (all-female) info and booking details are later on in the post, but there’s one thing to note… bookings close on Thursday April 22 at noon. After that, if you haven’t booked, you can’t come in.

If you’ve already booked a ticket, that’s still valid (unless you contacted me to say otherwise).

So, what have we got at this one then…

This time the event is not only all-girl speakers, but also one with three varying topics:

  • Running an online businessMore4Mums are going to pop along and talk about the joys of trying to run an online store, how to engage with customers and make money online.
  • Running a Facebook group/page and campaign: Jacq Kelly is going to be there to tell us about the hows and whys of running Facebook and what you can do to make your pages and campaigns a success.
  • How to do a Twestival: Two of the organisers from last night’s Edinburgh Twestival Victoria Raines and Kate Trussler – are going to speak a little about what it takes to organise and pull together a Twestival event – and a successful one at that as thanks to their efforts (and those who attended) more than £3000 was raised – enough to buy a well for a village.

So if you’re interested in running events with an online element, an online business or online campaign with Facebook, this is the dinner for you.

The venue is Moo on Brandon Terrance, which comes well rated (I haven’t been) and the owner is opening up especially for us, which is really nice. The one thing everyone should be aware of is that it’s BYOB. There’s no corkage charge, but similarly there’s no beer unless you bring your own. Whyte & Mackay whiskyJura whisky and the ethical vodka Snow Leopard Vodka will be providing a little tipple (feel free to go follow them all online as a token of gratitude) as chasers for the speakers though.

For those of you who like a beer it won’t surprise you to hear me suggest a company I used to do work for - BrewDog – as a tipple of choice (if you like traditional lager and aren’t sure which BrewDog is for you, get the 77 Lager). If you want to find out which of their beers is best for you, I suggest a quick blog hunt for reviews of their lovely products. There will actually be little samples of a few BrewDog drinks on the evening too.

Anyway, that’s the speakers, the location, the drinks, all that’s left to point out is the cost and where to get a ticket…

They’re £25 per person from the link below.

Now I know previously I had said that we would run these bimonthly but that seems a tad irregular, so if the event does well/proves of interest, we’ll do Edinburgh and Glasgow monthly.

So hopefully, we’ll see you there…

And if you can’t wait that long for the next event, there’s an event dedicated to podcasting in Glasgow on April 21.

Hi Craig, do you want Playing Politics to do a cabaret slot at the next Edinburgh dinner? V

Not for this one Vic, we’ll do an Edinburgh themed one soon enough that’s relevant, but thanks for the offer.
