Let’s be honest, everyone involved in PR and social media can get a bit up themselves at times and take it all far too seriously (not that there aren’t times for being serious, but you know what I mean).

So in the spirit of my friend Lee Barnett who does a Fast Fiction challenge (go read lots of them or buy the book), here’s what we’ll do here every Friday (unless no one plays): I’ll put a post up looking for ideas – a fictional scenario that needs a PR/social media response on Thursday afternoons (yes, like the Star Trek PR Problem one I did but better formatted. If you watch it below you’ll see what I mean). I’ll close entries at midnight UK time, pick an idea and then one of the first things I’ll do on a Friday is do a PR/Social Media treatment for it.

If any idea is put forward that is a genuine stumper, I’ll say so and give them a bottle of Whyte & Mackay whisky.

Let’s keep it light-hearted and fun – and I look forward to the challenges….put them in the comments below…

    A giant Japanese monster descends on the UK. The police are quickly overwhelmed while people and property is being destroyed. The press discover that it’s all being stage-managed by an evil criminal mastermind with a self-image problem. The world teeters on the edge of distaster….Save us Social Media!

    Neil Lennon, manager of Celtic, denies he planned to be boss of FC Braga before his side were dumped out of the European Cup at the first hurdle as it emerges he is leaving Parkhead for top job with the Bhoys’ conquerors immediately. A soccer stramash that needs smoothed out.

    Mike, that could be a contender for a bottle of whisky right there…

    Parents across the country are up in arms after the Bogey man was found volunteering at a soup kitchen. “I just wanted to give something back to the community,” he commented earlier today.
    “How on earth am I going to scare my children into bed now?” one angry parent asked outside a local primary school this afternoon.
    The Bogey man’s reputation is in tatters – can you save him?

    A city (say in Scotland) have invested a lot of money into a brand new transport network (say a tram network) but they have fallen out with some people (say the main contractor) and as such they have had a small issue (say the district lack of a tram line). How do you save the day? I’ve tried to make this senario very far fetched to give you a real challenge – nothing this bad would ever happen :-)

    @Jackie Daly: Jackie, that’s awesome. Bring that one back to me next week!

    Whisky – my eldest sons will be here quicker than you can say Whyte & Mackay. I await your decision.
    The whole thing, Craig, is a great fun idea. Actually, an award-winner in its own right.

    @Craig:
    Consider it done!

    As you’ll have seen Mike, I went with one of the other ideas but keep ‘em coming every Thursday!
