The £1000 Traditional and Digital PR Offer

What's the offer?

If you are a small business, we'll do your traditional PR as well as your online PR - website content, blogging, using Twitter, YouTube, podcasts, customer engagement - for £1000. If you are a larger company, the fee is £2000. If you are a very big (or time consuming company) then the fee will be more.

We just want you for traditional PR

Sorry, but that's not the offer. We're showing joined up solutions here. But if you have a traditional PR company and want us to work with them (and you) to carry out digital engagement, then we're happy to talk.

Why this offer?

Scotland is, to put it bluntly, not the most forward country in embracing digital media communications to promote individuals or companies. It's been rarely used for promotions, internal communications, customer engagement or crisis PR.

Also, there are a few PR/marketing companies - some because they are rip-off merchants, some because they have high overheads - who have been overcharging for services provided, either through markups or high fees, especially in digital where there seems to be a mystique about the work. And there isn't a mystery to this. It's quite simple.

If it's so simple, why do I need anyone?

For a few reasons - it's time consuming, especially at the start. It can also require a bit of a change in company mindset and you may be wondering if you even need HR guidance for staff using social media. You may also need someone to join up the dots for you to show you how it all comes together.

Basically you're giving me a press release, a blog and a Twitter account?

I would imagine we'll do press releases but there's no guarantees on the rest of it. We'll sit down and look it each person/company on a case by case basis to see what's most effective for you.

But why bother? Will it make me money?

It can. When companies have used digital communications - like BrewDog, McKay Flooring, Whyte & Mackay, even our good selves at Contently Managed, there's been increases in sales. Each of these companies has used blogs to build relations with people, had an online presence to engage with people and those people then bought goods and spread the word about the company and their products.

I'm in a different sector

There's no sector that can't benefit. What's the harm in having a meeting to see what those benefits could be?

People say there's no sales, ROI or metrics in social media communications

You won't get sales purely because you have a Twitter account but the engagement can lead to sales - and you can do online only discounts. As for ROI there's plenty of statistics you can get but we believe the best three are an increase in sales, people spending more time looking at your brands and talking about your brands.

But why digital?

Have you looked at the amount of time people spend online? Even just on something like Facebook? What do you do when you learn about something new? You head over to Google to learn about it.

What do I actually get for my money?

First of all we'll meet and see what your goals are, how much time you have to spare and so on. From there, we'll agree on the work that's to be carried out and we'll get on with it. You will of course be in regular contact too.

What's not included?

If your website needs a major overhaul or a lot of design work, that's not included. You get some basic design work and also SEO (at start and ongoing) included in the price but the vast majority of your fee will go in taking you online, taking your message to the traditional press, creating video and audio for you, setting up an online page for all your news and coming up with creativity to promote you across all platforms. If we need to meet up a lot or you live in a remote location, there may be some travel costs as well.

Powerpoint presentations are also not included because quite frankly, while we love Word, we hate Powerpoint.

If you're promising money back based on traditional media, does that mean you don't get digital?

Far from it. But what this is about is encouraging people to take steps into digital and one way of doing that is showing that - if nothing else (and we think you'll get plenty more) - you'll get your money's worth in traditional coverage.

What's my ROI going to be?

Whatever you want. Again, we don't make blanket statements so we would sit down with you to see what your goals are and tell you if they are realistic. We said above what we think the best ROIs are.

What happens if I end up needing even more SEO advice or video or web design than you can provide?

We'll point you in the direction of the people we work with. If you don't like them, we'll make some more suggestions to you.

Why is this offer so inexpensive?

A couple of reasons: we're a small firm with small overheads. There's also a recession on and, as we said at the top, we hate to see people being ripped off.

And who are you to make this offer?

The team involved will depend but it will be overseen by Craig McGill, who has been involved in a number of social media matters, having carried out the UK's first charity Twitter fundraiser, carried out blogger engagement with Tesco, created videos, taken Whyte & Mackay online to a new global audience amongst other projects. He's also been a speaker at a number of events for the likes of the Chartered Institute of PR, the Marketing Industry Network and organises the Scottish Social Media Dinners.

We also love sharing ideas and expertise - check out our blog.

What if we want to work on a month-by-month basis?

All contracts will be on a month's notice period anyway but we can work to shorter terms if you want. However the money-back offer only applies to those who sign up for 12 months.

When does the offer end?

Feb 28 2010.

What if I'm not based in Scotland?

We'll still be happy to work with you. We're based in Scotland, but we work the globe.

What if I want to do social media and digital engagement but not with Contently Managed?

Well, we'd be liars if that didn't hurt a little, but not every kiss leads to a wedding. But you should still speak to us - not only so that we can learn from why you don't want to work with us, but also so we can give you suggestions as to who you should work with. We know the other good social media and digital communicators out there and we'd rather you went to them than someone who would rip you off.

Hang on, you'll suggest your competitors to us?

Yes. To be blunt, there's enough work for everyone and more to the point, this isn't about us, it's about you and making sure social media works for you. I've got other questions.
